Nutrition

The Fort Frances Family Health Team provides nutrition services with a Registered Dietitian.

Dietitians are regulated health professionals who provide education, advice and counselling about food and nutrition to individuals with nutrition concerns.  

The Registered Dietitian assists with health promotion, acute care and chronic disease management and prevention.

Using a patient-centred, evidence-based approach, the Registered Dietitian can provide nutritional assessment, education and individualized medical nutrition therapy care plan in many areas including:

  • Healthy eating and balanced nutrition
  • Weight management (underweight/overweight, unintended weight changes, nutrition support for obesity medications)
  • Prenatal/Postnatal nutrition
  • Digestive System Health (IBS, IBD, GERD, celiac)
  • Cardiovascular Health (blood pressure, cholesterol management)
  • Chronic Respiratory Diseases (COPD, sleep apnea, asthma)
  • Renal (kidney) and Liver Disease management
  • Disordered eating / Food relationships / Eating behaviours
  • Vitamin/Mineral deficiencies

Access to nutrition services is through provider referral.
