Diabetic Foot Care Program & Foot Care Services

The Fort Frances Family Health Team provides footcare services for high risk diabetic patients, and other patients requiring as-needed specialty footcare services. The foot care program is delivered by the Registered Practical Nurse at the Family Health Team. The role of our nurse is to provide foot care and health teaching to our patients to prevent foot problems and serious complications, through early detection. Our foot care program is designed to provide patients with the best practices, knowledge and information required to take responsibility for the health and well-being of their feet. Access to Footcare is by provider referral.

Services provided are:

  • Assessment and education for self-management of feet and nails.
  • Ongoing footcare for high-risk diabetic patients
  • Assessment and treatment of callouses, corns, and ingrown toenail
  • Treatment of plantar warts
